Frostbite

Casualties of this order finish on and off with amputations.

I read an interesting report in a book by an unknown Russian author, which had been found in a Christian monastery.

It was telling the story of a pilgrim, wandering around and surviving on dried bread, that people were offering him.

Once, he was surprised in the country by a bad winter storm, and as a result could walk no longer.

A simple peasant healed him with following recipe.

The moujik gathered dried animal bones in the field and cooked them in a pot until they were half-burnt.

The smell was horrid, but the brown-black paste, which remained in the pot, cured our fellow in a short time.

He had just to spread it on his feet and legs several times per day.

I wonder whether such a remedy could be used in our clean, orderly installed hospitals…
