“It is not what we say, or what we think, that defines us, but what we do!”
Jane Austen, (1775-1817), English writer.
Manifestation of Genetic Disorders
Knowledge of our ancestry is increasing constantly.
We know that Neanderthals have dominated the Earth over more than 700’000 years.
Homo sapiens has overtaken since more than 300’000 years.
What we still know is that first ones were carnivores.
All species, be it fish or mammals, limit their future with such a regime.
Red meat has become cheaper in developed countries.
Hence, our population has enormously changed nutritional regime.
From vegetarian at beginning of 20th century, now it has become predominantly carnivorous.
Textbooks written 50 years ago have stated that we need 1 g of protein per kg bodyweight.
This is probably highly exaggerated!
From a genetic point of view, all mammals are extremely near to us, humans.
Poultry has common ancestors with us at the time of Dinosaurs.
Fish is even further away, at the level of Amphibians.
Other seafood, like muscles and shrimps are Invertebrates, appearing on Earth even longer ago.
Most genetic disorders are autosomal.
Hence, the pair of chromosomes concerned possess rarely the same deletion.
Neoplastic disease can be also viewed as genetic.
The factor which decides whether one chromosome or the other should be manifested is the Immune System (IS).
Thus, a huge realm can be considered this way as Autoimmune Disorders.
Consuming red meat in excess predisposes to such ones, as the IS gets in difficulty distinguishing Self from Non-Self.
You see, most importantly this happens in our intestine, which is the central point of the IS.
On the other hand, it has been written that about 10% of its mucosa sloughs each day.
This statement also is probably wrong, as this ratio depends also on our nutritional regime.
Gluten and Lectins increase it, while well cooked meals devoid of those reduce it.
Concerning autoimmune disorders, it has been proven that consumption of sugars worsen them.
Probably, this factor also increases their prevalence.
Simple sugar has found a place in our nutrition only since 2 centuries, but this one has increased tremendously in recent years.
Sucrose was absent before and only fructose had been consumed as fruit.
Probably, this one should be also limited if you deal with such a disease.
Starches are transformed extremely quickly into sugar and thus should not be consumed in excess.
Fiber carbohydrates are probably the safest, but you need adapted ferments for those.
