“When you talk to certain people, you first have to talk to them about what they are talking about before you talk to them about what you are talking about.”
Bob Marley, (1945-1981), Jamaican musician, reggae singer and Writer, and participant in the Rastafari movement.
At the end of the nineteenth century there was a huge debate between professionals about the outbreak of a disease.
Dr Louis Pasteur (French scientist, chemist and physicist, born 1822, passed away 1895) introduced the principle of germs, wiping away the old theory of “Primitive Generation”.
On the other hand, Dr Claude Bernard (French physician, physiologist and epidemiologist, born 1813, passed away 1878), opposed him, putting the accent on the “Inner Milieu”.
For one whole century this discussion remained without definitive solution, and beginning of 1980s we were still taught at medical schools, that the germ was the main factor.
Many laymen would stay on the side of Dr Claude Bernard, and for instance my grandparents would tell me repeatedly: “Cover yourself well not to catch a cold!”
Nowadays it is evident that the “Common Cold” is multifactorial, and needs appropriate environment, but also the Mycoplasma pneumoniae, a ubiquitous germ in modern society.
Hence, to counteract a disease you have an alternative solution.
In Common Cold the germ has become resistant to most antibiotics, and only a few remain operational (Doxycycline for instance).
The alternative consists of submitting the body to better protection against low temperatures, warm garments in winter as a protective measure, but you can resort to a posteriori measure, like a hot bath, followed by a good night of sleep under the eiderdown, for instance.
This last one was practiced since Antiquity in the Balkan peninsula (Paracelsus, 1493-1541, Swiss physician).
Another example are arterial dissections and retinal detachment, where the trigger is traumatic, and a deficit in unsaturated fats – the ground on which the pathology prospers.
In autoimmune disorders, like multiple sclerosis (MS), it is possible that Gluten and Lectins play the trigger role while eating meat, especially of Mammals, animals genetically extremely near to us, – the favoring ground.
Consuming meat, and especially if poorly cooked, makes it difficult to the immune system to distinguish Self from Non-Self.
Mammals
Genetically spoken all Vertebrates are tightly related animals. Pigs and all cattle are mammals (Triassic Period, 252-201 million years ago), remarkably like us.
Implanted cardiac porcine valves remain tens of years without deformity in the human body. Nowadays diabetics use genetically produced Insulin, but for half a century commercialized hormones were of porcine and bovine origin.
Hebrews and Moslems
Remember Moses would give precise recipes about the thorough cooking of meat, already five thousand years ago! He also forbids his people pig meat. (Similar with Moslems).
Birds, which is poultry are related to Dinosaurs, (Mesozoic, 252-266 million years ago), that is reptilians, and thus much farther in Evolution.
With fish we have common ancestors among Amphibians (Late Devonian, about 363 million years ago), even farther away.
Invertebrates
Shrimps and crabs are crustaceans. Clams and mussels, like all those last-mentioned ones, like all Invertebrates (Paleozoic, appear about 3.5 billion years ago), are extremely far from our species.
Since more than half a century, medical workers have observed lesser atherosclerosis ratios in populations consuming a lot of fish. On average, they also attain an older age.
