Neurovegetative System

This part of our nervous system is said to be autonomous, that is independent of its voluntary counterpart.

This statement is though not quite correct, and as everyone can observe for himself, extenuation of the one follows tiredness in the other and vice versa.

The NVS is composed of two complementary components.

Those are the sympathetic pendant (SP) and the parasympathetic one (PP).

Like Ying and Yang those seem to fight each other, and one is in trouble to decide which is stronger…

But the first is strongly helped by the medullary suprarenal gland, which can overflow the whole humoral system with Adrenalin and Noradrenalin, which are its neurotransmitters.

As to the second pendant, its neurotransmitter is Acetylcholine, which is widely preponderant in the whole CNS.

A lot has been published about neurodegenerative disorders and overall attention is not abating.

What we know is that all activities, be it psychological or physical ones, sustain the CNS, and fight Alzheimer’s disease, for instance.

Hence, it would be interesting to pay attention to measures which will help the NVS.

Literature in this domain is largely missing.

All Nature follows similar rules.

Seasons change, after spring comes summer, after autumn- winter and so on…

High tide follows low one, etc.

We, humans, are part of nature and all our being is subjected to its rules.

Thus, we have to adapt ourselves and our behavior to the seasons for instance.

Going with Nature rather than against it will strengthen body and soul.

In summer our main concern is dissipating heat, and we are sweating like hell.

Here the PP is in full action, with peripheral vasodilatation and action of the sweat glands.

In winter, our body fights cold, and here the SP is in full action with peripheral vasoconstriction, and secretion of the sebaceous glands.

As we already know exhaustion of the NVS endangers the CNS also.

Thus, our voluntary actions must help the NVS.

Exposed to excessive heat in summer, we must temper this tendency with cold baths and drinks.

While in winter, the reverse, exposure to an excessive cold should be tempered with hot baths and warm drinks.

Many populations on Earth practice already eagerly such rules.

Hammams and Saunas to name but a few…
